Abstract:

“Greening” through technology involves using various forms of information technology (IT) and computational frameworks more efficiently to achieve a reduction in energy and resource consumption. While many businesses and organizations aim to reach this goal with a variety of success, many technologies that could further benefit environmentally conscious choices remain underutilized. In this paper the authors consider the use of virtual worlds as a means to further enhance online interaction in order to reduce waste and to increase efficiency.
