Abstract:
This article presents a statistical analysis of road accidents, which happened in 2018 on Polish roads, with particular regard to the age group in which the highest number of injuries/fatalities from road accidents occurs. The research is based on the causal analysis of increased accident rates amongst the identified demographic group of drivers, as well as on external factors such as the national driver training system or legal and organizational solutions in the remit of road safety. This research article for the first time presents results and recommendations on the causes and effects of road accidents based on a detailed analysis of; the aggregate age of drivers, the current training regime and level of confidence in the rules governing specific road behaviour. This is an innovative approach, both from a theoretical and a practical safety sciences perspective, with a future impact on road safety.
