Critical Success Factors for Business Analysis Performance

Abstract:

The business analysis plays an important role in new software implementation projects. There are various aspects influencing the business analysis (BA) success. One of them are the critical success factors (CSFs) fulfilling in order to set up the adequate environment inside the organization in that the business analysis team can operate and prepare the inputs for future information system implementation. Our research is focused on the set up the importance of CSFs taken into account and also into setting up of the main groups of CSFs needed to be analyzed as a base for BA success. We were to find the general group of CSFs which need to be analyzed deeply in order to find the detailed factors influencing the BA. The main purpose of the CSFs fulfillment is besides the achievement of BA success also to find the most effective and efficient way to perform BA and to prepare the set of business requirements which need to be implemented into the information system.

There were two research methods chosen to fulfill the goal of this paper. At first we performed the secondary research from the academic and business journals and magazines, as well as from the relevant scientific books. We have searched mainly the information related to CSFs and their relationships with business analysis. After that the induction was used to define the final set of used CFSs and also to split them into the pre-defined groups. To support our research we also used the case studies from scientific journals and our experiences in this area.
