Abstract:
The purpose of this paper was to add to existing research by exploring the importance of external factors on successor’s commitment into a family business. It was done by performing comparative analysis of the culturally distant countries: Indonesia and Poland. The empirical survey was carried out among potential successors of family businesses. The hypotheses were based on 4 types of successor’s commitment: affective, normative, calculative and imperative one. We found strong first-hand support for cultural embeddedness of FB succession and we point at stimulating niches for further study.
