Cultural Heritage of Small Homelands – Experience from an International Project

Abstract:

Cultural heritage of small homelands is a system of tangible and intangible regional cultural assets that form cultural heritage. The heritage emerges from geographical, economic, and social drivers in the context of regional, national, and social history. It carries a particular cultural value, which deserves being preserved and shared. The paper aims to present current outcomes of an international project, Cultural heritage of small homelands (No. PPI/APM/2018/1/00010/U/001 financed by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange NAWA as a part of the International Academic Partnerships). It presents selected cultural heritage components, tangible, intangible, and natural. Research to date demonstrates that effective protection of cultural heritage requires a synergistic approach, combining protection and stimulation of development. Such an approach covers multiple segments and is multidisciplinary.
