Abstract:

As one of the largest sectors in the global economy, tourism stimulates social and economic development, contributes to job creation, and also has a huge impact on the development of other sectors of the economy. The article studies the main trends and problems in the modern development of the Russian tourism industry, notes the growth of Russia's tourist competitiveness in the world market. The authors characterize the importance of tourism in the global economy and focus on measures of state support for the Russian tourism industry during the COVID-19 period. In the course of the study, the impact of the pandemic on domestic and foreign tourism was assessed, and the main prospects for further development were identified.
