Abstract:
Opinions on the restriction of movement of strategic products within the Member States of the European Union are unlikely to be consistent. The reason is a different understanding of the freedom to conduct a business, which cannot be understood as an absolute right without any restriction. Since 2011, there have been significant problems in the distribution of medicines in the Slovak Republic. This unbearable situation was resolved by the state despite several European Union resolutions in 2013 and 2016. The main aim of the paper is to review the implemented legislative measures of the state in this area. To achieve this goal, several scientific research methods have been used, such as analysis, description, comparison and deduction of the legal status and synthesis of knowledge gained from scientific and professional literature. The result of the contribution, which by its content belongs to the area of management and administrative law, is an objective assessment of past measures to restrict the export of medicines and their impact on the freedom of doing business within the European Union.
