Cybercrime in the Information Society: Is Romania on the top of world cybercrime?

Abstract:

The paper presents aspects of the types of cybercrimes in the information society with examples mainly from Romania. The paper tries to present the legal Romanian framework and Romanian crime issues, damages and several possible causes ot it. The notion of computer crime offenses includes very different offenses, more or less incriminated, which determined the need to take measures able to prevent and combat this phenomenon and the most significant and effective were the legal ones. Cyber crime implies committing offenses which are included in the Penal Code using information technology and specific equipment. Despite the fact that it was not yet found an unanimously accepted definition of this concept, at global scale we can outlined a few main directions of action for cybercrime such as: activities that affect private life, the dissemination of materials containing obscene and / or xenophobic content, economic crime, unauthorized access and sabotage; the violation of intellectual property.
