Abstract:
The Higher Education Act of 1965 defined Historically Black College and University (HBCUs) as “a school of higher learning that was accredited and established before 1964, and whose principal mission was the education of African Americans.” (Congressional Record Service, 2014) It is the responsibility for HBCUs to honor the fulfillment of its principal mission by not only “offering culture, a rich history and rigorous academic programs but also prepare students for leadership and life after graduation.
