Abstract:
Nowadays, higher education institutions have a duty to promote responsible and sustainable behaviors among students and must offer as much extra-curricular opportunities as volunteering has a role to play in this respect. This paper will focus on examining specific aspects of student associations that provide volunteer activities, on identifying benefits served by volunteering, and on factors underlying students' decision to engage in student associations to volunteer and relies on a research conducted at the level of two universities in Romania, The Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE) and The University “Ștefan cel Mare” of Suceava (USV). With different student perceptions of the same decision makers, it can be observed that students choose to practice those activities that bring them a personal benefit.
