Decision to Visit Beach: Push and Pull Motives Redefined (Finding from Bangka Island, Indonesia)

Abstract:

The main objective of this paper is to discover the pull and push motives of travelers to visit Bangka Beach. To accomplish this objective, the present study has undergone interview sessions with beach travelers, representative of local government, and local people. Close observation in two locations have been managed to identify basic tourism infrastructure and current beach attraction. Some important finding in this paper is, first, “new experience”, “relaxation”, and “financial condition” are the principal push motives to visit Bangka Beach. Second, “cheap travel”, “scenery”, and “quiet environment” are essential pull motives to visit Bangka Beach. The crucial recommendation for two locations is developing a waste management system and building retail or shopping facilities.
