Design and Analysis on a New Umbilical Connector with Computer Platform

Abstract:

In this paper, a new umbilical connector and separation device (UCSD) is investigated to guarantee the artillery launching successfully with computer platform. The device is designed by using the mechanical simulation software. The umbilical connector and separation device is an important part of the artillery launching apparatus which supplies the original launching direction and velocity of the artillery. By using the designed device, artillery can obtain ground signal before launching. Meanwhile, the ground signal can be quickly cut when the artillery launches. Unlike other umbilical connector and separation device, the structure of the designed device is purely four-joint-shaft mechanical. The performance of the designed device is verified by simulation and test. The reaction time is fast, and it only uses about 184ms to accomplish the launching task.
