Abstract:
This study presents the development process of contemporary photographic lenses, encompassing design, prototyping, and subsequent numerical, laboratory, and field evaluations. A review of the current state of lens technology and market demand for new solutions is provided. The use of computational tools in the design workflow is outlined, with special attention given to numerical analyses of optical performance. The relevance of operational testing for product validation is emphasized. As a case study, the design and development stages of the IRIX f = 30 mm photographic lens series intended for DSLR cameras are discussed. The numerical modeling of the optical system, simulation procedures, and corresponding outcomes are described Data from laboratory measurements and operational trials are reported and compared with prior simulation results. The paper concludes with a concise summary of the findings.
