Abstract:

Number of older people all over the world is continuously growing Designers of elderly’s software and technology faces a lot of challenges. They should pay special attention to this group of older adults. Many design principles used for youngsters cannot be applied on elder’s products, because the requirements, expertise and expectation of this age group is completely different. In this paper we presented a catalogue of design principles for elders and the barriers faced by them while using technology. For this purpose we conducted a survey so that general problems faced by this user population could be recognized. Results and findings made it clear that the use of technology in this age group is increasing drastically.
