Abstract:
Crime is a major obstacle to the sustainable development of the rural environment. This article explores the drivers of crime and their impact on the socio-economic development of rural areas in the Republic of Moldova. The study's main purpose is to identify and analyze the causes of crime in rural areas and their effects on the well-being and progress of local communities. The article analyzes criminogenic factors through a literature review and a statistical analysis of relevant data. The methodology includes desk research and interpretation of official data on rural crime, highlighting trends and critical issues. The conclusions suggest concrete measures to reduce crime and support sustainable economic development in rural communities in the Republic of Moldova. This study provides a solid basis for public policies and strategic interventions to improve security and quality of life in rural areas.
