Abstract:
Romania is one of the two European Union countries that have the optimal natural prerequisites for ensuring a proper feeding level of the population. However, the food consumption pattern of the population in our country is characterized by: the relatively high share of food expenditures in the total consumption expenditures; the relatively high share of food consumption in households from own agricultural production; the excessive consumption of cereals and potatoes - foods with relatively low nutrient potential. In this context, the present paper aims to investigate the effects exercised by the determinants on the demand for food products in Romania, by using the Structural Vector Autoregression model.
