Determinants of Relationship between Organizational Innovativeness and ISO 9001

Abstract:

Organizational innovativeness is one of the most important capabilities that organizations competing in the fast and competitive markets of the globalized world need to possess in order to succeed in the market.  On the other hand, organizations are facing the ever growing need to be cost efficient while achieving high levels of product and service performance, and standardization of organizational procedures through quality management practices is one of the most common strategies to achieve these goals. However, there is still ambiguity in terms of finding a way to achieve high quality and innovativeness at the same time, and this debate has been present in management literature for quite some time. This paper aims to define and analyse the determinants of relationship between organizational innovativeness and ISO 9001 as one of the most commonly used quality management systems in order to shed more light on this understudied issue and offer new directions for future research in this interesting area.
