Determinants of the Willingness of People 50+ to Use the Internet in Recruitment Procedures in the Context of their Activity in the Labour Market – Research Results

Abstract:

The paper presents an attempt to assess the use of the Internet for recruitment of senior workers. factors that influence the use of the Internet by older workers in order to change their position in the labour market. The aim is to determine the factors determining the willingness of seniors to use the Internet in their search for a job. In the theoretical part - the review of Polish and foreign literature on recruitment, including the impact of new technologies on changes in employee recruitment. The empirical part presents the results of research conducted in a group of 521 seniors from the Third Age Universities of West Pomerania - the propensity of respondents to be active on the labour market, the instruments used in job seeking, the level of specific ICT skills. The authors used statistical inference and econometric modelling methods. The research revealed that the group of respondents is highly diversified in terms of the possibility to use the Internet for recruitment purposes. Age, education and IT competences turned out to be factors strongly differentiating the respondents' activity when using e-recruitment instruments.
