Determinants of Romanian Migration: A Regional Analysis

Abstract:

This paper analyses the determinants of migration from two perspectives: first, the perspective of business environment and labour market and, second perspective regarding social conditions of Romanian determinants of migration. The analysis includes data from National Statistical Institute and Romanian Register of Commerce for all 42 counties of Romania for the year 2011. The results have shown that migration is strongly correlated with labour policies of government. The income obtained during work-life and after retirement has a low or no impact on diminishing Romanian migration. Also, the newly created enterprises show that Romanian business environment is uncompetitive towards labour market.
