Abstract:
The paper analyses the main determining factors of crop patterns in Dobrogea, the most droughty region of Romania. Before 1945 extensive agriculture with more or less resistant species to the drought was practised. In the period of socialist agriculture (1945-1989), the crop pattern was established by plan. After 1990 the crop pattern is established at the farm level by a manager depending on several factors such as land reclamations, sorts or hybrids, resistance to drought, market demand and others.
