Develop the Digital Literacy Framework for Higher Education Sector

Abstract:

Knowing how to use the web and digital technologies effectively and appropriately is a critical skill for any young adult. Digital literacy is not a stationary concept as ICT changes. However, lack of confidence and competence in their knowledge and kills is often a barrier to improve digital literacy. To be digitally literate needs to evolve to ensure that learner has the ability and apply appropriate skills using conducive learning system and technologies for information discovery, transfer, analysis, review, and communication. Purpose of the study is to develop the digital literacy framework that can be implemented in higher education sector in Malaysia. The expected outcome is to identify set of digital skills and styles that young adults should have in order be digitally literate so to enhance in academic performance and employment opportunities. This study will also contribute to policy and practices as the provided digital literacy framework that can be implemented in higher education sector in Malaysia.
