Abstract:

Many different analyses may be used for direct or indirect assessment of information system conditions. Some of them directly target certain characteristics of the company, others are tailor-made for information system assessment. This article first provides a survey of scientific methods used for assessment of corporate informatics. On the basis of this survey the ZEFIS method has been selected for direct information system analysis. The method is based on a comparison of selected data with the data of other companies. The body of the article then describes the application of the selected method in a real business environment. This part begins with a brief description of the field of business activity of the company followed with an analysis of its information system and practical application of questionnaire-based inquiry. Evaluation of the inquiry is presented in the SWOT analysis format. Further the article focuses on the development of an information strategy covering the risks following from the drawbacks found.
