Abstract:
The state of affairs of service businesses in selected zones and subzones of the Republic of Bashkortostan (RB) is analyzed. The strategies implemented for the services sector in the RB subzones are identified with the help of the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) business portfolio analysis model: growth strategy, development strategy, maintenance strategy, retrenchment strategy. It is established that basically two different strategies are applied in the subzones depending on the type of industry, the geographic location of the economic entity. Namely, the regions of the middle of the central zone are characterized by growth and maintenance strategies. However, development and retrenchment strategies in the service industries are implemented in 12 districts of the central zone, 12 districts of the periphery, 22 border areas, as the business environment is limited by many key factors and conditions. Long term strategies are proposed taking into account the revealed strategies of public catering, paid and consumer services to the population, as well as retail trade. In particular, the defensive strategy, the "build-up" strategy, the "retention" strategy, the "harvest" strategy, on the basis of which the effective directions of development of service industries in individual subzones of the Republic of Bashkortostan are determined.
