Differences in the Organization and Planning of Corporate Education in Medium-Sized and Large Companies in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Effective and systematic corporate education, as a part of the overall company strategy, shows to be a key aspect for the maintenance of competitiveness in the present economy of knowledge. The aim of this paper is therefore to find out by means of a questionnaire survey to what extent large and medium sized companies in the Czech Republic apply a systematic approach to education, which is among others linked to the existence of long-term and annual education plans and also to the fact that education is organized systematically by the personnel department or by a dedicated staff department focused on education. We set two hypotheses. The first one was, that at least 60 % of large companies and 50 % of medium sized companies deal with education within the personnel department or within a separate staff department focused on education, and the second one was, that at least 60 % of large companies and 50 % of medium sized companies have a long-term education plan in place and also an annual education plan. Although none of the hypotheses was confirmed, a fact has been proven, that large companies after all approach to corporate education more systematically than medium-sized ones.
