Different Perspective on Business Process Mapping

Abstract:

The aim of the article is to highlight what everyone emotionally intelligent person should already know - Process mapping requires a lot of work and communication with other people. This is very crucial and the most difficult point. In the phase of defining the optimal processes, keep in mind also the consequences that bring your effort not only optimization for the enterprise, but also for your employees. Therefore use this excellent optimization tool with respect to others.

What do you think at first when you see the term “process mapping”? Is it process like a “completely closed, timely and logical sequence of activities which are required to work on business object“1, pull by a customer and creating value of product? Or you have on mind people, as responsible employer or employee with know-how and workforce? What do you think about value of this industrial engineering method? Are you focused on customer requests or advantage of using? There are a lot of different perspectives.

As the title suggests we take a look at an integral part of lean management, usual industrial engineering method broadly known as business process mapping, part of business process management (BPM). We use a lot of methods, techniques or tools to support our production. Some of these methods are “user-friendly”, some of them are difficult to use or hardly understandable in terms of answering the question what good can bring to us. We can divide them in to countless sorts. Let´s look at one common way of process mapping and then compare with another point of view.

We perceive mostly process mapping like a “systematic approach to making an organization's workflow more effective, more efficient and more capable of adapting to an ever-changing environment. A business process is an activity or set of activities that will accomplish a specific organizational goal.“2 What secret can we find if we look behind this definition? We could find more than just work with a process, an undoubtedly helpful tool of optimization, in many paper describe all the advantage or a lot of time spending on creating process map, we can see work with people as well.
