Abstract:

This research is aimed at studying the regional differentiation and its impact on economic security. The analysis is made on the materials of the Russian economy, which is determined by the significant diversity of its spatial development. Authors aim to determine Russia's spatial development key indicators. On the basis of the results obtained, to give them an expert assessment, substantiate the reasons of the existing differentiation and assess their impact on the economic security. It is determined that differentiation is one of the actual problems with a long history of development in Russia. There is a tendency of increasing differentiation indicators in the period of modern history of Russia. Lagging of some regions of the Russian Federation from the "leading regions", in some cases, is caused by the economic policy of the state, as well as the main factors affecting the "gap". The problem of differentiation in modern Russia has a tendency to exacerbation to the critical values for the economic security of the country. The need to overcome this threat gives grounds and opportunities to find alternative ways of the economy modernization, taking into account its regional diversity
