Digital Open Government and Transparency in Nigeria: The Constraints and Prospects

Abstract:

Open government encapsulates such tenets as accountability, transparency, participation of citizens, and public service delivery. It is a whole-of-government strategy aimed at providing clear directions about the pursuit of good governance. Thus, a government is open when its operations are anchored on ideals of inclusiveness. According to OECD (2016,p.1), open government involves a culture of governance based on innovative and sustainable public policies and practices inspired by the principles of transparency, accountability, and participation that foster democracy and inclusive growth.
