Digital Transformation in Higher Education: Academic and Administrative Staff Perception

Abstract:

The main goal of the survey was to get an insight into digital transformation perception by representatives of Latvian higher education institutions (HEI). To achieve the goal, survey among academic and administrative staff members was conducted, using the authors’ developed questionnaire. To evaluate the quality of the questionnaire, the authors made a reliability analysis in SPSS environment. Measurement scale was tested, using Cronbach’s alpha and Item-total correlation analysis. Respondents’ viewpoint on digital transformation in higher education was evaluated by means of frequency analysis and ranking. Based on the survey results, the most significant factor of HEI digital transformation was the infrastructure that was accepted by almost all the respondents, irrespectively of their representing university, position or the level of engagement in digital transformation (DT) processes. More than 85% respondents agreed that DT in HEI has resulted in development of new/improvement of existing educational products, competitiveness in the global market, and barriers-free secure access to the digital learning environment.
