Dining Information System: Rule Based Application using Backward Chaining Method

Abstract:

Dining Information System is intended to help users to find the right restaurants for their holiday and special day of dining. This system has been developed by applying the Rule Based Reasoning concept using the M.4 Visual Basic Development Kid. Its development process has undergone five important phases. These include acquiring knowledge for the selected domain, designing the knowledge base, developing or coding phases, implementing the user interface and finally executing and testing the system. The user is asked to identify their interest and needs of the dining style, and then guided through series of questions which require either yes or no answer, or a descriptive answer. The user can choose the restaurant by identifying the nationality type and the different type of dining. Based on these answers, the knowledge base recommends the best results, which in this case is a series of restaurant according to the answers given.
