Distance Human Resource Management under Uncertainty

Abstract:

The paper deals with two recent factors in human resource management – increasing uncertainty and implementing distance technologies. The impact of these factors has been accelerated by the restrictions introduced to stop the COVID-19 pandemic and by the economic consequences of the war in Ukraine. Distant human resource management requires from the employee specific professional and soft skills, including communication skills, flexibility of thinking, strong sense of responsibility and perfect skills in individual time management. The managers need additional advanced skills and qualifications. First and foremost, they should be able to identify which members of their staff can work distantly and which cannot. The company with employees, working at home, should create a single information system (a platform on the Internet) for common use by both distant specialists and office personnel.
