Abstract:
The rapid growth of using computer networks in the internal processes of Egyptian government, the delivery of government products, services to citizens and industry encourages us to develop an electronic voting system that we expect it will replace the traditional voting system (paper and pencil) and become the first e-democracy service provided by the Egyptian e-government. This paper is a technical proposal for the Egyptian e-voting system, which we believe it has the opportunity of offering a robust e-voting system for local people’s council elections, president elections, and other democratic issues that only render a judgment by voting. Our novel e-voting scheme covers different issues of an electronic voting system such as ensuring the anonymous and the privacy of the voter beside the security of the election process from malicious practices. The scheme introduces the use of national public key system with smart card technology which allows voters to interact with the system in mobility environment. The system does not require any special voting channel while the communication can exist over any public network such as the internet.
