Economic Aspects of the Use of Cloud Computing

Abstract:

The article discusses the area of cloud computing and its economic implications. A research of available resources has been conducted to define the issues, outline the main deployment models and types of provided services. It also deals with selected economic aspects of the use of cloud technologies both in terms of users (companies) and from the provider's perspective. The main factors which affect the cost and efficiency in the cloud were transformation of capital expenses into operation expenses, reducing the labor cost, buying economies of scale and reducing capacity reserves. In order to confirm or refute the presumption that cloud technologies could reduce the capacity reserves and therefore reduce costs has been conducted a research based on a data gathered from selected servers located in Czech Republic.
