Economic Integration between Turkey and European Union: Implication for Security and Stability in the Region

Abstract:

The aim of this article is to analyze the economic integration between Turkey and the European Union (EU). At the same time, the impact of negotiation processes on potential economic outcomes is described. The author indicates that the integration process between Turkey and the EU was initiated by the secular establishment and continued by the Muslim political elite. As a result of the Customs Union signed in 1995, the EU became Turkey's largest trading partner. Despite the removal of trade barriers, there are still many political obstacles to trade.  However, this does not mean that the process of economic integration between Turkey and the EU can slow down. Economic integration between Turkey and the EU will continue to develop because it is in the interest of all parties.
