Abstract:
Romania's integration in the European Union requires, inter alia, considerable restructuring in the agri-food sector as Romanian products compete with their rivals from Member States on a common market. Changes also refers to food chains, which have to be designed on the basis of competitiveness.
To achieve and maintain a high level of competitiveness, economic activity on product chain must be efficient in all its phases: agriculture, food industry and distribution. At each stage, the resources must be used rationally, seeking the economic optimum to achieve the desired level of competitiveness as a whole.
This paper aims to evaluate the economic performance on product chain and is structured in three parts: the first part analyzes the economic performance on wine chain, with a case study at SC Murfatlar Romania SA, the second part presents an analysis of bankruptcy risk at the company and the last part presents conclusions drawn from the analysis and performance improvement proposals made by the authors.
