Effect of Banker-Customer Relationship on the Performance of Nigerian Banks

Abstract:

In today’s competitive banking environment, quality service is critical to individual Deposit Money Banks’ success. Delivering high quality service is closely linked to profit, cost, savings, and increasing market share. The overall objective of this research is to discover the relationship that exists between Deposit Money Banks and their customers. A sample size of 328 staffs of four selected banks was determined using the Yamane formula. Three hypotheses were formulated and tested using regression and correlation analyses. The result shows that there is a link between Deposit Money Banks’ performance and bank-customer relationship, that there’s a good depth of understanding among the public on the banking industry. Also, bank-customer relationship serves as a tool in enhancing banks performance. This study therefore recommends among others that Deposit Money Banks should put more efforts in rendering good services to their customers.
