Effect of Employee Well-Being on Turnover Intention of Millennial Employees in Jakarta

Abstract:

The purpose of this paper is to study the effect of the four types of employee well -being based on circumplex model: work engagement, job satisfaction, burnout, and workaho lism, to turnover intention. This study also explored the role of religiosity to turnover intention. The focus of this study is on millennial employees, as previous studies showed that due to their characteristics, millennial employees are prone to high turnover intention. Even though employee well -being and turnover intention is one of the popular research topics on human research management, but there is very limited research that explore the effect of circumplex model of employee well being to turnover intention. In addition, the author proposed a novel model in employee well-being and turnover intention mechanism which incorporated religiosity. The author conducted a questionnaire survey on 300 millennial employees in Jakarta. The data were analyzed using moderated regression model using SEM. The results suggested that burnout and workaholism were positively and significantly affect turnover intention. However, there was no signif icant effect found of work engagement and job satisfaction on turnover inten tion and mediating role of religiosity. This study showed that employee well-being significantly affect turnover intention of the millennial employees. It implied that organization should concern about it's employee well-being and ensure to lessen their burnout and avoid them to become workaholics to minimize the turnover intention.
