Abstract:
This study investigates Motivational Tools and Employee Commitment of selected Non- Governmental Organizations in Maiduguri, Borno State as a study. Several organizations are faced with the issue of implementing the right motivational tool that would be effective and efficient for their employees so as to improve commitment which would in turn increase performance towards achieving the aim and objectives of the organization. The objectives of this were to examine the effect of motivational tools on employee commitment in an organization. The study adopted a quantitative research design, primary data was obtained using questionnaire as the research instrument. The study population was four hundred and twelve (412), a sample size of 203 was determined. 185 questionnaires were retrieved from the field. The internal reliability was determined through Cronbach Alpha coefficient as .823 which is above the .70 bench mark. Responses to the questionnaire were analysed using SPSS, Correlation and Regression analysis were used to test the hypothesis, three amongst the null hypothesis were rejected because the p-value is less than 0.05 significant level thereby accepting the alternate hypothesis, which implies that motivational tools has a significant effect on employee commitment. On the other hand, one null hypothesis was accepted because the p-value is greater than 0.05 significant level thereby rejecting the alternate hypothesis, which implies that career advancement has no significant impact on normative commitment. The study concluded that the more the implementation and adoption of motivational tools, the higher the commitment of staff in the organization. Several recommendations were made out of which is that management of an organization attaches more importance to issues of employee motivation to make the institution survive amongst its competitors.Â
