Efficient Power Control Plane for Switching Nodes

Abstract:

The article presents methods for estimating power consumption in optical and electrical switching nodes. The research conducted focuses on the control plane used in Clos-type switching fabrics. A simulation program, based on the OMNET++ simulator, was prepared to estimate energy consumption in the control plane using various algorithms for selecting the switching path. The results show that, for some control algorithms, power consumption in the control plane can be reduced if the volume of traffic offered is known.
