Abstract:
Despite the historical economic and political rivalry the new free trade agreement (FTA) between the European Union (EU) and Japan was finally signed and entered into force at the beginning of 2019. After more than five years of negotiations, this FTA, currently the largest in the world, represents a relevant example of tariff liberalization. Therefore this paper seeks to analyze specific characteristics in this unprecedented trade agreement and whose parts, as a full ensemble, accumulate values close to one third of total world imports and exports.
