Abstract:
Over the past thirty years, the Western world has witnessed the rise of previously underdeveloped countries, which have established themselves as major players on the world economic scene. Brazil, Russia, India, China, joined since December 2010 by South Africa within the “BRICS” group, are among the most prominent of them. This article is based on six essential points, namely: 1) The invasion by the BRICS of new markets and the challenges of competition. 2) Why are we witnessing today a disoriented international financial system? 3) Who governs today? 4) Are emerging countries (BRICS) vulnerable to crises? 5) What are the risks for the BRICS? 6) Do the BRICS today represent an economic pole?
