Abstract:
The influence of living and working environment factors on the migration activity of the population was studied on the example of EU countries. The research was conducted on the basis of the concept of well-being, which implies a subjective assessment of the level of satisfaction with the tangible and intangible components of the living and working environment. The study of the impact of these factors on migration activity in EU countries resulted in the finding of the most relevant pull-factors of migration, namely the choice of working conditions, including methods of employment, employment stability and low risks of job loss, the availability of training programs, as well as the latest factors illustrating the changing determinants of employment in the European labour market, which is described by the demand for ICT specialists and employer’s readiness to enhance the ICT skills of their personnel. Modelling the impact of living and working environment factors on the migration of the population has confirmed the importance of educational factors and opportunities for developing intellectual potential as modern drivers of migration in the EU. The results obtained indicate a gradual change in migration orientations caused by a change in the competitive environment in which employment opportunities are formed.
