Abstract:

The end of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century has brought the technological revolution and the extremely present digitalization. Great advance in the field of information technology, but technology in general, is fundamentally changing the concept of the business environment and work ecosystem. In such a turbulent time, when one cannot keep up with the accelerated development of technology, and implement all innovations to improve the quality of life, there is a need for active involvement of business entities in creating new systems. The laws of the market testify that it is high time for us to adapt or to remain in oblivion.

The same also applies to the human resources sector, which is the first to hit the new demands of employees, but also the market in general. Current topics are the new economy, the economy of knowledge, the economy that is global, but also the economy that brings completely new professions and occupations that we meet for the first time, and which are constantly emerging and disappearing. The human resources management sector, i.e. potentials, constantly strives to cope with all these changes, despite the factors of uncertainty, change and constant adaptation to new business conditions, through the development of employees at the organizational and individual level.

Important issues that will be examined in the paper, in the part of the primary research through the survey of experts in the field of human resources in this context are: what are the key factors that determine the career path of employees; if employees' expectations are different, concerning seniority; how to adequately consider the differences between the markets of the Republic of Serbia and the countries in the region, when it comes to expectations, salaries and living standards of employees. Finally, we examine the part in which the most prominent factors are presented, from the above, which are crucial for the business of a company, as well as predictions for future trends in the human resources sector.
