Abstract:
The paper examines the opinions of companies’ managers operating in Slovakia regarding the level of knowledge and skills of employees in the field of cybersecurity. It focuses in more detail on the knowledge and skills that employees in cybersecurity lack the most, comparing them with the knowledge and skills that are most valued in companies. Additionally, based on four hypotheses, it analyzes the parameters in which the assessment of the examined knowledge and skills differs statistically significantly.
The source data were obtained from a questionnaire survey conducted in January – June 2024 in companies operating in Slovakia. The respondents were managers of companies whose competence included the area of cyber security. 357 respondents were involved in the survey.
The results showed that the most lacking and at the same time the most valued knowledge and skills are Flexibility and constructive approach to problem solving and Ability to communicate effectively with the company management. No statistical significance could be shown for the differences in responses by size of the companies, structure of owners, total number of computers in the companies, or by the person responsible for the company's cybersecurity.
