Employment of the RFID Technology in a Solicitor’s Office Cost-Benefit Analysis

Abstract:

RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification and is defined in the online lexicon for information technology [see ITWI09] as a wirelessly working procedure for recording and identification by goods, objects and people with its components "tags RFID" (data carrier in the form of a microchip), aerial and reader. It is a new paradigm in the data transmission technology with the goal to improve the working processes, by providing a more efficient operation mode. Meanwhile, RFID is a technology established in many ranges, with extraordinary potential in the logistics industry. Indeed, this technology on account of data protection-juridical doubts is not quite indisputable. The keyword „glass citizens“ is called often in this connection. Furthermore, this technology accompanies the reproach of high costs by its introduction. To validate these statements academically, an economic analysis is carried out within the scope of this work for the process"object search" in a solicitor's office.
