Energy and Economic Efficiency of Municipal Waste Processing Plant

Abstract:

The main purpose of the paper is to conduct an energy audit for a mechanical and biological waste treatment plant. The energy audit consists in collecting data from a company or facility, about the devices used in the entire waste treatment process, and then on the analysis of proposing ways to improve the energy efficiency of the tested facility. The energy audit is based on the Energy Efficiency Act and the PN-EN 16247:2014 standard. Presented work consist two basic proposals for improving energy efficiency. The first suggestion is the optimization of the compressed air installation, which shows how much money can be saved by using a monitoring system and detecting air system leaks. The second proposal is the automation of electricity consumption and measurement systems. It is connected with saving electricity on the basis of continuous monitoring of electricity consumption, which is needed to power all devices on the installation.
