Abstract:

With a dynamic business environment and the development of information technology, managers have to make the right decisions that give them an advantage in the competitive market. Enterprises operate in the era of the threat of cyber-attacks, where it is important to quickly and efficiently respond to incidents. Ensuring information security has become a strategic necessity for all entrepreneurs. Identification of needs, achieving an appropriate level and maintaining and improving information security is an essential element to maintain a competitive market position, financial liquidity, profitability, compliance with legal requirements, and a positive corporate image. Protecting information is, therefore, a prerequisite for the operation of enterprises. The aim of this paper is to attract attention to the important issue of ensuring information security in enterprises and to present the results of research on measures to ensure data and information security in Polish small and medium-sized enterprises.
