Entrepreneurial in Emerging Halal-Oriented Economies: Researching Halal Logistics Services

Abstract:

The shifting towards more halal-oriented economies shows how halal logistics is increasing prominent. The 21st-century halal logistics is indeed crucial as halal is a multi-trillion dollar industry (HDC, 2012) which serves more than two billion Muslim worldwide (Bangkok Post, 2007). Although Malaysia has the potential of being the world largest Halal hub and leading edge on halal logistics, there is only two local halal logistics players exist (MATRADE). Despite the positive growth in halal business, not many logistics enterprises (SMEs) are favor to halal logistics services to fulfill the growing demand of the halal products, in fact still uncover the innovation and strategy to reposition and redesign their logistics management. Given the importance of logistics players in the economies of industrialized country and those firms will have to replace by halal logistically integrated practices, only few studies focus on logistics in SMEs (Haan et al., 2007). Therefore there is a need for entrepreneurial research in logistics management and halal logistics.
