Entrepreneurial Intention and Remittance Beneficial in Supporting Entrepreneurial Behavior of Indonesia Return Migrant Workers

Abstract:

Indonesian migrant workers has created a significant economic contirbutions to the country. Bank Indonesia showed that in 2018 the amount of remittances from the Indonesian migrant workers has reached around US$10,8 billion. Moreover, the Indonesian return migrant has a dynamic role in creating entrepreneurship. In this study, the researchers try to analyse the of remittance benefits from the Indonesian return migrant. The researchers do exploration about how the entrepreneurial intention of the Indonesian return migrant formed when they build a business. Next, this study wants to find how the entrepreneurial intention and the remittance beneficial can support the entrepreneurship behavior of Indonesian return migrants. After having an interview and focus group discussion (FGD) to the Indonesian return migrant, there are some entrepreneurial intention factors found. They are Attitudes, Subjective Norms, Perceived Behavioral Control, and Educational factors. Then, remittance beneficial earned by the Indonesian return migrant used for investment, asset, saving, helping families, and making business. Another finding shows that entrepreneurship intention and remittance beneficial have a contribution in supporting entrepreneurship behavior of the Indonesian return migrant. In conducting the results, a case study was held to 34 Indonesian return migrants from 3 provinces in Java; East Java, Central Java, and West Java.
