Entrepreneurial Orientation and Organizational Culture Type – Family and Non-Family Firm Perspective

Abstract:

The obligatory need to build a competitive advantage of the company means that the issues related to entrepreneurship development are still relevant. Entrepreneurial orientation is a firm-level construct consisting of the five dimensions proactiveness, innovativeness, competitive aggressiveness, autonomy and risk-taking. Family and non-family firms differ significantly because of their specific features, but in both cases organizational culture can determine the level of entrepreneurial orientation of organization. In this paper, research efforts will be concentrated on differences in entrepreneurial orientation level according to the organizational culture type. To achieve the main aim of the paper the questionnaire survey was realized among 260 Polish enterprises in 2018. The results showed that for family firms the clan and hierarchy culture is favorable while non-family firms with the market culture and adhocracy culture are more entrepreneurial.
