Entrepreneurship as the only Option of Employment of an Economically Active Person in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

This paper analyzes the attitudes of entrepreneurs in subjective evaluation of their choice of business as the only way of employment. The analysis is based on data collected by means of a questionnaire survey focused on small and medium-sized businesses in the Czech Republic engaged in active business. The main objective is to systematically evaluate who and why considers business as the only option of obtaining their income. 884 respondents doing business mainly in the form of a sole proprietorship, i.e. a self-employed person, with varying length of time in business, number of employees and various fields of study participated in the questionnaire survey. For purposes of the analysis, 191 participants were used. They answered that they had no choice but to do business to satisfy their financial and non-financial needs.
